Xylella fastidiosa
Xylella fastidiosa causes a highly damaging bacterial disease and has around 400 host plants. In the Netherlands this puts at risk almost the entire tree nursery assortment, a number of perennials and many bedding, container and pot plants.
This highly damaging bacteria is native to South America and is found in Europe in southern Italy (olive quick decline syndrome), in France in myrtle-leaf milkwort near Nice and on the island of Corsica and the Balearic Islands.
Host plants of Xylella must be supplied with a plant passport; refer to the list on the NVWA website under the Xylella dossier.
