Edible plants
Increasingly larger quantities of edible products are being cultivated and traded within the horticultural sector. They include the edible herbs, cut flowers and plants with edible fruits (strawberries, citrus, tomatoes, etc.). Edible horticultural products must comply with the EU regulations on food safety and quality. These regulations apply to products that are suitable for consumption at the time of marketing. The enclosed document ‘edible plants specification’ describes the applicable regulations for the supply of edible products, the required certification, possibly edible horticultural products and labelling.
For information about certification, please refer to Global GAP.
More information about labelling can be obtained from the Quality Control Bureau (Kwaliteits Controle Bureau, KCB).
